Clinical Approach
Rebecca works from a client-centered and strengths-based approach. She believes each person is an expert onto themselves and has the power to heal. Her goal is to empower each person on their journey of recovery and wellness through healing and self-discovery. She believes that each session involves excellent therapy as well as the building of solid skills to better manage and lead a balanced life. One of her goals for each session is for you to leave with tangible skills that can be used immediately.
Rebecca’s areas of interest are Anxiety, Recovery and Chemical Dependency Struggles, Self-Awareness, Shame and Guilt, Vulnerability, Self-Compassion, Severe and Persistent Mental Illness, ADHD, Depression, Chronic Illness and Autoimmune Illness, and Change and Growth. She works collaboratively with Psychiatry. She has experience with gender issues and has a profound respect for those struggling with identity. She also enjoys working with grief and loss, change/transition, shame issues, weight/body issues, and life balance. Her family work includes teens, parenting, and adjustment. She is available for individual sessions, family, and group therapy. She prefers to work with ages 14 and older. Rebecca works from a Relational and Narrative School of Therapy, using CBT, ACT, and DBT including therapeutic arts often in her work with clients.
In addition to traditional talk therapy, Rebecca integrates therapeutic art principles and process art into her work as a healing medium. She offers creative, trauma-informed experiences that allow individuals to explore emotions, regulate the nervous system, and reconnect with self through the act of making. Her approach to art is grounded in the belief that the creative process—rather than the final product—can be a powerful tool for insight, resilience, and transformation. She offers both individual and group opportunities for therapeutic art-making, particularly for those navigating anxiety, grief, or identity work.
Rebecca provides individual and group supervision for LAMFTs and LPCs in the State of MN seeking clinical licensure hours.
Rebecca has over 18 years of experience in the mental health field. She has worked with acute populations, in residential treatment and with psychiatric services, and in the community mental health outpatient setting.
When not working, she loves to be in her art studio, baking, or with her family. If not doing one of those things, she can be found in a coffee shop with a drawing pad in her hands or walking with her dog, Luke P. Krug.
Additional information about Rebecca’s Therapeutic Arts Treatment services in Northfield, MN coming October, 1st 2025:
Art offers a powerful way to express what words cannot. For many children, teens, and adults, creative expression becomes a doorway to healing, insight, and emotional release. Therapeutic Arts combines the creative process with clinical insight to help individuals explore feelings, reduce anxiety, improve self-esteem, and process difficult life experiences.
You don’t need to be an artist. The focus of Therapeutic Arts is not on the end product but on what the creative process reveals and how it can support emotional growth and healing.
What is the Therapeutic Arts process treatment?
Therapeutic Arts Process is treatment that uses the creative process of artmaking alongside the skills of a trained therapist to support healing and wellness. Individuals are invited to use a variety of materials—such as drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, written words, music, photography and more—to explore their inner world in a safe and supportive space.
Art becomes a language of its own. For many clients, especially those who find verbal expression difficult, the act of creating provides a nonverbal way to access emotions, process trauma, or develop new perspectives.
Sessions are tailored to the individual’s needs and comfort level, blending creative activities with therapeutic conversation and reflection.
